小数的意义是什么？像0.5、0.32、1.056、……这样，用来表示十分之几、百分之几、千分之几、……的数，叫做小数。

所以，小数的意义实际是表示分母为10、100、1000、……的分数。小数是分母为10、100、1000、……的分数的一种特殊表现形式。它与分数的写法不同，但表示的意义是一样的。如：0.25和25/100都表示百分之二十五。

小数的计数单位是十分之一、百分之一、千分之一、……分别可以写作：0.1、0.01、0.001……
