数字153有个美称叫做“圣经数”。为什么会有这种说法呢？它出自《圣经·新约全书》约翰福音第21章，里面写道：“耶稣对他们说‘把刚才打到的鱼拿几条来。’西门·彼得于是把网拉到岸上。那网里满是大鱼，共153条；鱼虽然很多，网却没有破。”

以色列人科恩发现153具有许多奇妙的性质；153是1~17连续自然然的和，即1+2+3+……+17＝153；任写一个3的倍数的数，把各位数字的立方相加，得出和，重复这一过程，最终必然出现圣经数153。

例如：24→2×2×2+4×4×4＝72→7×7×7+2×2×2＝351→3×3×3+5×5×5+1×1×1＝153。

英国学者奥皮亚奈还对必然出现这个结果作出了数学上的证明。
