保留几位小数一定是求近似数吗？保留几位小数是不是一定是求近似数？在原来的人教版小学数学教材中，基本上就是这样的。但是在最新的人教版数学教材中，保留几位小数不再等同于求近似数，而是还包含了另一种情况：利用小数的性质把一个小数末尾洒上或去掉零，使这个小数达到题目指定的小数位数。

如人教版最新教材四下第54页第4题：把横线上的数改写成用万作单位的数（保留二位小数）

其中左边的题需要求近似数，而右边则不用，直接利用小数的性质改写即可。

海南岛是我国第二大岛，面积是34000KM²。

34000=3.40万，注意这里应用“＝”，而非“≈”。因为两边是正好相等的，不是大约相等。

笔者认为：这样修改教材其实不太科学，增加了学生的学习负担，因为原来学生只需记住保留几位小数就是求近似数即可，但现在却多了求准确数的情况。
